I'm a New Yorker, a traveler, watercolor painter, and decor obsessed bookworm. I have loved to draw, paint, and create art in practically any medium since I was a child. Animals have always been my favorite subject, as I love the textures of their fur and hair, and capturing the particular expressions on their faces. My style is very detailed and not especially typical of watercolors; I mostly use dry brushes. I am mainly self-taught, and have been creating custom pet portraits for nearly twenty years, with some longer breaks for college and law school. I'm so happy to be creating art once again.
When I was a little girl, I loved animals and art so much that I used to tell anyone who asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up that I wanted to be a "veterinarian with pictures all over the walls," but ultimately, I'd rather wield a paintbrush than a scalpel. As the daughter of a veterinarian and an art dealer, my passion for both painting and animals was established very early. Watercolors are my medium of choice. I think it allows me to best capture the expressions of my animal subjects, and getting that face, those eyes, or little ears or curl of tail, just right. Many of my dog and cat paintings currently hang in my father's animal hospital, in Rockaway Beach, New York. The hospital was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, and when he rebuilt and reopened, I created watercolor paintings of my favorite breeds of dog and cat to adorn the new walls.
