Background

I have been an artist for 19 years. I first realized I was an artist after I had children. The bright colors inherent in children's books absolutely enthralled me. Add to that the ability to invent something new everyday and a desire to convey a larger message, all drew me to painting. I truly love that I get to do this every day! I have studied under the masters, various art schools and time in an artist colony to continually hone my skills. I work in gouache, watercolor, acrylic and oil. My work has been shown in galleries and art shows in Northern California, online nationally and in retail shops in Maine and California.

Statement

I use my art to capture and express common emotions we all share. I love observing humor, cultural norms and the raw beauty of nature. I want to paint the heart of the matter, and translate it to a distilled or abstract version. I am drawn to people, animals and inanimate objects, caught unawares, in a moment of authenticity. I continue to experiment with colors, materials and themes to convey a deeper meaning, we can all relate to.
